Yoga

“The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind & the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.”
(B.K.S. Iyengar)

The underlying ideas to practicing yoga are the following:

  • Be gentle, do not force any posture. Forcing is against nature.
  • Feel complete at whatever stage of the position one can attain.
  • Completeness or union is the goal, not physical perfection of any posture.

Yoga asanas have three purposes:

  • First, they can be used to prepare the student (along with pranayama breathing) for advanced spiritual practices like mantra sadhana(meditation). This is especially true for Hatha yoga.
  • Second, when practising non-forceful meditation, asanas may occur automatically, cleansing and integrating the mind, body, and spirit.
  • Finally, an Ayurvedic practitioner may recommend these postures for healing specific diseases.

Restorative yoga - last Friday of each month 6.00pm @Parkminster Methodist Church

Restorative yoga is a restful practice that encourages you to slow down and open your body through passive stretching. When your body enters a state of relaxation, your mind can also consciously relax as tension melts away. The only work required during a restorative yoga practice is to pay attention to your breath, become aware of any sensations or thoughts that may arise, and then gently release them.

2-hour class

Suitable for everyone.

Private tuition

Private yoga classes are customised to fit your specific needs, whether you are new to yoga or you are looking to deepen your existing practice with some personal attention and guidance. This may be focusing on therapeutic benefits for injuries, restorative benefits for stress or emotional situations, and helping you achieve your specific goals. In one-to-one sessions you gain more understanding to level-up what your body needs according to your personal ability, so that you develop a strong and aligned practise on your mat and beyond.
